Keivan Saket was born in 1961 to a cultural family in the city of Mashhad. He started music and painting from childhood with the support of his parents. In painting he was pupil of masters like Sadegh Pour in drawing, Master Pirasteh in coloration and Master Davvalo in watercolor. He learned his first music lessons from his uncle, Manochehr Zamanian, in Children and Teenagers’ Music Workshop which was founded in Mashhad by National Broadcasting Organization under the management of Morteza Delshab at that time. After a short time Manochehr Zamanian left Mashhad in order to pursue his education. Some time later, his townsman and his uncle’s friend, Hamid Motabassem, who taught music in Arts Academy of Tehran then, came to Mashhad and started teaching in tha same workshop and nearly for two successive summers before the Islamic Revolution he continued teaching over there. After the Islamic Revolution Mr Motabassem moved to Mashhad and his friendship with Saket became profound and intimate, but after some time he came back to Tehran and then went overseas.
Keivan Saket founded the Vaziri Band in 1996 and from then has performed many works with this band. In 1990 he was invited as a musician and a soloist to Aref band by Parviz Meshkatian, and the result of this cooperation is works like Markab (Palfrey), Ofogh Mehr (Affection’s Horizon), Vatan Man (My Homeland) with singing voice of Iraj Bastami, and Magham Sabr (Value of Endurance) composed by Master Meshkatian with tar and setar solo of Saket. Numerous concerts inside and outside of Iran were among Saket’s activities. Now he has founded The Big Orchestra of Keivan Saket with more than 60 musicians and singers that has had many successful concerts in Tehran. His video album of his performance with singing of Salar Aghili will be released soon. Saket has specific beliefs about row and respecting predecessors’ row, has felt the need for learning them for professional artists and has started writing them which will be released soon. This row will solve music trainees’ problems in understanding and perception of row fundamentals. Presently Saket’s books about row are taught by tar and setar teachers in Iran’s most cities. Saket has recently had successful concerets in Canada at Torento, Ottawa and Montreal cities.
